A fast-growing DTC brand selling viral, character-inspired heels.

BUSINESS OVERVIEW Onceuponaheel is a women's heels brand built around fairytale aesthetics, selling to women aged 25–35 across the US, UK, France, Australia, Canada, and Germany. The brand fills a gap in the market for high-quality, character-inspired heels that let women express their love of classic princess and villain stories in an elegant, wearable way. Operating since May 2025, Onceuponaheel has grown almost entirely through organic content across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The brand has built a community of 700K+ followers and a customer base of 19,000+ buyers, with a 10–15% repeat purchase rate and a 96.3% fulfilment rate. STORY / ORIGIN Onceuponaheel started with my wife, a lifelong fairytale enthusiast with a sharp eye for the market around it. For years she watched how character-inspired merchandise was sold online, from independent creators to major brands like Aldo and Pandora, and noticed the same thing again and again: the audience was deeply passionate, but rarely served with products that matched that passion. The demand was there; the execution usually wasn't. We're entrepreneurs and have built brands before, and Leïla had always wanted to create something in this world, not just because the audience is huge and loyal, but because she genuinely has the eye and the passion for it. Heels felt like the perfect product: timeless, worn by women everywhere, and a natural fit for the princess-and-villain universe. That instinct has been proven right. The biggest breakthrough was the villain collection. It's the best-selling part of the brand, and it was entirely Leïla's idea. Almost no one, not independent sellers, not the big brands, has tapped into how much fans love the villains. We did, and it worked. In 17 months, with minimal paid acquisition, the brand grew to 700K+ followers and $413K in trailing twelve-month revenue, driven by organic content we create together. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY Onceuponaheel's products draw on characters from classic fairytales, Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, whose source stories (Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen) are in the public domain. The storefront contains no reference to any entertainment company, brand, or franchise. Product names, descriptions, and imagery are the brand's own. Paid advertising likewise carries no third-party brand references. The store policies include an explicit statement that Onceuponaheel is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any entertainment company. The brand has operated since May 2025 with no cease-and-desist, takedown notice, or intellectual property claim received. Buyers are encouraged to conduct their own review as part of diligence. SALES CHANNELS & GO-TO-MARKET Revenue is generated entirely through the Shopify storefront, with traffic driven by organic social content. The heart of the business is its English-language presence serving the US, UK, Australia, and Canada, with the US as by far the largest market, across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The follower counts shown in this listing reflect these primary English-market accounts. On top of this core market, the brand has also built a well-developed French-language presence through its sister site talondeverre.com, with its own established social accounts across the same platforms. This French audience is an added bonus included in the sale, a second, ready-made market layered on top of the main one, and accounts for roughly 25% of total revenue, with the English-speaking market driving the clear majority. The business reached $300K+ in revenue with no paid acquisition at all. A Meta retargeting test was introduced in April 2026 and now runs at under 3% of revenue, the paid channel remains almost entirely unbuilt. The email list of 19,268 subscribers is active with automated flows already in place, and has significant room to be optimised further by the next owner. PRODUCTS & SUPPLY CHAIN Onceuponaheel sells curated women's heels inspired by fairytale princesses and villains, with each shoe paired to a specific character. The brand operates on a private label model with a dedicated sourcing agent in China, custom-branded packaging, and established supplier relationships. Products are shipped directly from the supplier to the customer, which keeps the operation lightweight and easy to manage, no warehouse, no 3PL, and no inventory holding required for the shoes themselves. The only inventory the brand holds is for its branded packaging: custom-branded boxes, paper wrap, and a gift keychain included in every order, the details that elevate the unboxing experience and reinforce the brand. All remaining packaging stock is handed over to the buyer as part of the sale. COGS sit at approximately 40–45% of net sales, supporting strong gross margins, and have trended toward the lower end of that range as the product mix has shifted. The supplier relationship and all sourcing contacts transfer with the sale. Beyond the pairs currently for sale, there is a ready pipeline: a selection of 10+ new pairs already chosen and prepared but not yet released to the public. Teasing these upcoming pairs is a core part of the brand's content strategy and keeps the audience engaged between drops, a proven playbook the next owner can continue immediately. OPERATIONS / OWNER DAY-TO-DAY The business is run by two founders (husband and wife). My wife leads creative direction: character-to-shoe curation, content creation, and brand voice. I manage operations: Shopify, supplier communication, order management, and financials. Combined owner time is approximately 10–15 hours per week. Daily tasks: order review, supplier coordination, content posting, content filming, and answering customer emails, the majority of time goes into filming, posting content, and customer email support. Weekly tasks: content planning and product selection. The business has no full-time employees or contractors. All operations are documented and a structured transition period is included, with direct introduction to the manufacturing partner and hands-on training in the content system. GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES 1. Optimise email & SMS marketing — Automated email flows are already in place and working. There is clear room to expand and optimise SMS and email monetisation further, improving retention and lifetime value from the existing 19K+ subscriber base. 2. Scale paid acquisition — The brand has proven organic demand. A small Meta ads test was recently introduced with encouraging early signs. A buyer could scale Meta, add Google Ads, and strengthen SEO to accelerate growth on top of the organic engine. 3. Influencer marketing & PR packages — We consider this one of the single biggest untapped opportunities. Sending branded PR packages to relevant creators is a natural fit for this product and audience, and something we intend to begin implementing this year. A buyer could move on this immediately to expand reach and brand awareness. 4. Expand deeper into the Disney universe — The Disney world is enormous. There are still countless princesses, villains, and beloved side characters that haven't been turned into a pair yet, a large, low-risk product roadmap that stays within the proven concept rather than diversifying into unrelated themes. 5. Upsells & complementary products — Beyond heels, there is room to sell complementary items that fit the aesthetic (accessories, corsets, and similar), increasing AOV while staying firmly within the Disney universe. 6. Retention — With a 10–15% repeat purchase rate, structured post-purchase and loyalty initiatives are a further lever for the next owner. 7. Occasion-led collections — The recently launched Wedding Collection shows the brand extends naturally into high-intent occasions beyond its core range. The same approach applies to other occasions (prom, galas, holidays), each with its own demand window and content angle.
