AI chat management Chrome extension with 40K+ installs and 1,700+ paying users

A Chrome extension that turns ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok into organized AI workspaces through folders, full-text conversation search, prompt libraries, bookmarks, tags, and bulk management tools. A single installation works across all four platforms, while a privacy-focused architecture keeps users' chat content within their browser. The bootstrapped business has grown organically through SEO, the Chrome Web Store, and word of mouth without paid advertising. Key Highlights ✅ 40K+ installs and approximately 47K monthly active users across 190+ countries ✅ 1,700+ paying customers with 573 active subscriptions ✅ Averaged approximately $17K monthly revenue from June–August 2026 at a reported 93% net margin ✅ Revenue increased 4.4x YoY through organic growth with no advertising spend ✅ Supports ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok with search, folders, prompts, tags, and bulk export tools ✅ Multiple monetization channels including lifetime licenses, subscriptions, and a Teams tier

Asking Price Reasoning
Priced at 5x annualized net profit, in line with Acquire.com's guidance for SaaS. Jun to Aug 2026 averaged $17.1k/month revenue at a 93% net margin, $184k profit annualized, up 4.4x year over year after a Product Hunt win and consolidating four extensions into one. Costs are ~$150/month with no staff or ad spend, so nearly all revenue is profit. 40,000+ installs, 47k monthly active users and a 95% free base give a buyer immediate upside from pricing, Teams and conversion.

Business Model
  • Freemium
  • Subscription
  • Business-to-business (B2B)
  • Business-to-consumer (B2C)
Freemium Chrome extension with paid upgrades. Revenue is mostly one-time Lifetime purchases ($99 per platform, $199 All Access for all four platforms): about 71% of revenue over the last three months. The rest is subscriptions ($9.99/month or $59/year per platform), about 29%. A Teams tier ($12-15 per seat per month, minimum 2 seats) serves B2B with an admin dashboard, seat management and a shared prompt library; it is early and largely untapped. Billing and tax are handled by Polar as merchant of record; a legacy Lemon Squeezy book still bills older subscribers. Also distributed through AppSumo.

Three components. (1) Chrome extension: Manifest V3, TypeScript, no UI framework dependency, bundled with Webpack and esbuild; exports use jsPDF, JSZip and html-to-image; auth via JWT (jose). (2) Website: Next.js (App Router) with React, TypeScript, Redux, Material UI and Sass; Google OAuth login; PWA via Serwist. (3) Backend API: Node.js, TypeScript, Express 5, MongoDB (Mongoose), Redis for rate limiting, JWT auth, Puppeteer for PDF rendering, Nodemailer. Everything runs on a single DigitalOcean droplet (Ubuntu, Nginx, PM2) with MongoDB self-hosted on the same server; the marketing site sits behind Cloudflare. Deploys via GitHub Actions on push. Billing and tax by Polar (merchant of record), legacy subscriptions on Lemon Squeezy, transactional and marketing email via Resend, analytics via Google Analytics 4.
Growth Opportunities
  • Improve conversion rates
  • Hire a sales team
  • Focus on SEO
  • Increase content marketing
  • Increase digital marketing
  • New product features
  • Expand to new markets
Conversion: 47k monthly active users and only 4.5% pay; the top cancellation reason is "unused", so onboarding, activation and in-product upgrade prompts are the largest untouched lever. B2B: 130+ companies already have several employees on individual plans; the Teams tier (admin dashboard, seat management, shared prompt library) is live but unsold, and direct outreach to these accounts is a ready pipeline. SEO and content: 37% of orders come from organic Google search via guide pages; scaling that content is proven. Paid acquisition has never been run, so CAC is untested with a 93% margin to fund it. Product: add modules for further AI platforms (Perplexity, Copilot, Mistral), publish to the Edge and Firefox stores, and localize the UI for the largest non-English markets (India, Brazil, Vietnam, Israel).

Selling Reasoning
  • Starting a new venture
This app has grown to the point where it deserves a full-time owner. Revenue went from $2.9k in May to $16.9k in August, and the next stage (converting more of the 47k monthly actives, selling the Teams tier into the 130+ companies already using it, paid acquisition) needs focus I'm now putting into other ventures. The product is stable, profitable and fully documented; I'll support the handover and stay available for a transition period.
Financing
  • Bootstrapped
100% bootstrapped and founder-funded. No outside investment, no loans, no grants; all growth has been funded from revenue. No investors or cap-table complexity for a buyer to deal with, no debt attached to the business, and the founder holds 100% of the equity. Infrastructure costs are minimal (a single server, ~$150/month), so the business has been profitable from early on and has never needed external capital.
